A Kona man was charged with nine offenses stemming from his arrest for a burglary Wednesday in Kailua-Kona.
Sometime early Wednesday, a laptop and checkbook were removed from a home on the 77-6400 block of Princess Keelikolani Drive.
A neighbor later found the checkbook and returned it to the victim.
Police say their investigation led to the identity of a suspect, 25-year-old Alan C. Minamishin of Kailua-Kona. He was arrested several hours later with the laptop in his possession. He was taken to the Kona police cellblock while detectives investigated.
Their investigation revealed that Minamishin was also responsible for using stolen credit cards from a wallet that had been stolen from a bathroom at a church on Alii Drive on Feb. 1. That wallet was later recovered without the credit cards.
On Thursday, detectives charged Minamishin with first-degree burglary, second-degree theft, fourth-degree theft, theft/forgery of a credit card, fraudulent use of a credit card, third-degree identity theft, two counts of unauthorized possession of personal confidential information, and violating terms of supervised release.
His bail was set at $82,000 and his initial court date was scheduled for Friday.
